'I'm always looking for the Hows and the Whys and the Whats,' said Muskrat, 'That is why I speak as I do. You've heard of Muskrat's Much-in-Little, of course?'
'No,' said the child. 'What is it?'

Tove Storch

Tove Storch - brilliant young Danish artist - fascinating and eerie art works. One of the best things I saw at the Auckland Triennial last week.

Added later: Here is the link to the paper I have written entitled "Tove Storch. Illusion and Reaction"

  1. This is how I know I know absolutely nothing about art. Interesting use of space, I suppose, but I much prefer looking at your paintings and photography.

Nothing against this nice young lady, but an architect I ain't.

  2. Well, Robert, they are quite fascinating 'in the flesh' so to speak. In my opinion.

But thank you for your preference of my work! :o)

  3. If art is supposed to be evocative, I should tell you that what I thought when I saw the sculpture of the young Danish artist was Ground Zero -- that is, the space in lower Manhattan where the World Trade towers once stood.

  4. Ah, a very interesting reaction Robert. I found them so scary I could hardly look at them for a while... as my escort would testify. But once I started thinking about why I had such a reaction, I was ok. They are *really scary*. You don't have to *like* an art piece for it to be excellent. I still don't enjoy looking at some pieces. Think of "Guernica".
